• A medium size peach contains only 40 calories.

• One medium peach (with skin) contains 1 gram dietary fiber.

• Peaches are believed to be native to China. Peaches were mentioned in tenth century BC Chinese writings, and were a favored fruit of emperors.

• The SC Legislature made the peach our official state fruit in 1984.

• South Carolina ranks #2 in fresh peach production and interstate shipments. Georgia ranks #3 nationally in fresh production. (At one time, one county in South Carolina could produce more commercially-grown fresh peaches than the entire state of Georgia.)
