Sunflower Field Photography Sessions

Due to the high volume of photographers and our obligation to manage the process, we will now require permits for all professional photography sessions on our property.

Professional photographers are defined as: persons being paid in cash or barter for the photos or bring professional props on site. This includes photographers for whom photography is not their primary source of income.

Amateur and personal photographers may take photos in areas that are not "off limits". Amateur and personal photographers are those who (a) are not exchanging money or services for photographs and (b) are not using professional props such as furniture and reflective disks.

Professional photographers can purchase permits ONLINE ONLY.

Professional photography sessions can be held from September 3, 2019-September 13, 2019.

Frequently Asked Question:

When will the sunflowers be in bloom?
Our Sunflower Festival will be on September 14th and September 15th, with kick off events on September 13th. We plan to succession grow these flowers, putting the first blooms around September 3rd (if all goes as planned). This will give you 10 days to get photography in while the flowers bloom. We will allow some photography on the 13th, but not a ton. We plan to do yoga in the sunflowers that evening and we will plan to cut the field in half to make room for both. No professional photography sessions will be allowed on the 14th or the 15th. So, you will be looking at the dates September 3, 2019 - September 13, 2019.

What will the fields look like?
We will be growing 4 acres of sunflowers. There will be 5-6 different varieties in there. We will have the traditional looking sunflower, a beautiful “plum” color, a two-toned (deep orange and light yellow), dwarf sunflowers (for kiddos) and maybe one or two others. There will be rows cut for walking and the sunflowers will be anywhere from 3’ to 6’ tall.

How much space will there be for photography?

4 acres worth of space! The field will be huge and there is plenty of space for parking.

Where will the field be located?

We will be utilizing our strawberry fields during their off season. So, you will access the field through The Anne Springs Close Greenway at the Adventure Road Entrance. You will turn directly to the right before you reach the gatehouse and park in our field, right near our tin building. We will have staff members there to greet you with signs that say “Check In Here.”  The physical address is: 835 Springfield Parkway Fort Mill, SC 29715

How many permits will be sold and when is the deadline?
125 permits will be sold. We believe with 4 acres and 10 days, we can spread that out well. However, we will only allow 25 (single use) photographers to schedule on each particular day of the week in order to keep the fields chaos free. The deadline to purchase permits will be August 15, 2019. No exceptions will be made. This deadline helps us plan for staffing and coordination. Your deadline (for single use permits) to submit session dates and times will be August 22, 2019. If you do not submit your session date and time by then, I will refund your money.

What is the cost?
The cost for Sunflower Photography is going to be similarly laid out like orchard photography. Because of the  multiple requests to split the $50.00 single use pass, we have decided to add an hourly option (which will roll over for orchard season as well). Just for clarification - single use permits (3 hour or hourly) may not be split up. They MUST be used consecutively and yes, you MUST give us your session dates and times.

  • Sunflower Seasonal Pass (come and go as you please, not necessary to set session dates and times): $200.00/sunflower season

  • Sunflower Single Use Pass (3 hour block of time - must set session dates and 3 hour time frames - 3 hours MAY NOT BE SPLIT UP AND MUST BE USED CONSECUTIVELY): $50.00/3 hours

  • Sunflower HOURLY Pass ( 1 hour block of time - must set session dates and 1 hour time frame - 1 hour MAY NOT BE SPLIT UP AND MUST BE USED CONSECUTIVELY): $25.00/hour

Where will the amateurs go?
Unless they pay for a permit, they will not be allowed in the field for photography. J The “iPhoners” will be told that they are welcome to take their photos at the actual festival on the 14th and 15th as the admission is free.

Can my clients bring dogs?

No, we have a strict no pets allowed policy due to our GAP certification and to our state's produce safety guidelines.

DEADLINE TO PURCHASE PHOTOGRAPHY PERMITS WILL BE AUGUST 15, 2019.
